You should neither 'thrash' it or labour it, whether towing or not, you should drive it properly. The advice to neither tow or carry heavy loads for the first few 100 miles is there to cover all types of driver right down to the worst possible. Provided you understand how to drive the car properly whether towing or not, the advice can safely be ignored.

unfortunatly Dh forgot his house keys for the house he shares in reading so had to drive back last night so 360 miles on monday and another 160 this morning lol so think its at around 700 now !!!!

I wouldn't cancel the trip for the sake of 300 miles, just don't tell your dealer you towed with the thing. It had probably done 100mph in the plant before going out to the supplying dealership.

And on the docks as well ! When the boat docks it has to unloaded and reloaded asap. They dont hang about driving the cars on the docks. I've seen them in action at portbury they'll even dice death with a 14000 tn train.
