Well just fitted a set of alko shocks I ordered from alko on sunday, hopefully there will be less bounce when towing, has any one retro fitted them to there own van and did it improve the towing.

Very good decision in my opinion. I have a continental caravan with shock absorbers, and any swaying induced by direction change, passing lorries or whatever is very short-lived. When I had to run with the hitch damper off for a while it made no perceptible difference. I can't prove it, but I believe the suspension dampers are of more benefit to stability than the hitch damper.

UK manufacturers have not generally considered it worthwhile to fit suspension dampers in the past, but it is becoming the norm, going by this article -

I've had them retro fitted to my three previous 'vans and they came as standard fit on the current 'van.  The 'van certainly rides more smoothly over poor road surfaces and passing lorries etc are barely noticeable.

To my mind for such a small outlay they offer a lot in return ... it is good to see manufacturers fitting them as standard now.  When I had my first set fitted in 2004 the dealer phoned me twice asking why I wanted them ... since then everyone has them!

That's why I ended up getting a set, as everywhere I looked there upwards of £65 + P&P. Can't really grumble at £50 delivered.

A bit of a snip at £49.99 delivered to be honest (I posted a link recently with the Alko June offer for these).

I fitted a pair to our Bailey 500/5 last year and while the van wasn't unstable or anything, there has been an improvement in the 'ride' since fitting the shocks.

A doddle to retrofit, so I'd get in quick while the offers on, otherwise these are usually about £69/pair.

Never had them before but now on our new Lunar Delta, previous Lunar Lexon EW, both Twin axles, and can certainly feel the difference on the move, much better towing
