I currently tow with a Kia 2003 Sorento, which I am delighted with. It is now eight years old and I plan to change it in the next six to nine months.
I’m not too sure about the new Sorento and am also considering the Chevrolet Captivia/Vauxhall Antara. So my question is can anyone give me some feedback on these please?
Thank you

Certainly the Vauxhall Antara has been updated for the 2011 model year and is a different and better car than its predecessor, in part owing to a much better engine. As far as I know the Captiva version has kept in step.
It's actually a GM Daewoo product made in Korea as I'm sure you know.
I haven't driven it myself but thought it worth posting to highlight that the 2011MY is not the same car as the 2010.
Regardless of the Independent's opinion, which I wouldn't take as a guide anyway, there's an interesting comment attributed to a senior GM engineer in this article that refers to the old model as "awful"

Thread on here not so long ago about premature turbo failure on said car. I think with Chevy you get the car & the service you pay for.
so don't buy the old model with the previous engine. Worth considering also that new Vauxhalls come with a 100,000 mile lifetime warranty for the first owner.
Of course you'd have to like the car - I hold no brief for it, and reliability remains an unknown for now as it's a new model, which is why I'd go for the Vauxhall if I was buying one (the Chevrolet version comes with 3 yrs/36,000m). And I'd be looking for a good deal - the residuals on this might not be great.
Chevrolet are still selling the old model alongside the new one. I'd definitely avoid that.
Sounds pretty risky taking on one of these cars in the earlier engine format, the Sorento has been fantastic in the four years I have had it so far, I have fitted two new front shock absorbers as a cost of £27 the pair plus £35 fitting. Other than annual service and MOT that’s it, you just drive it and put (new very expensive) diesel in it.
Thanks again
