Hi there..

This is my first post on here as I haven't yet towed my caravan anywhere.. it's currently on my parents drive waiting for me to pick it up after a friend dropped it off for me...

I've done the research on weights - 85% limit, noseweight 7% of MPTLM - have the right car for the weight of the van and have done loads of research of weight distribution when packing the caravan but I still have one question - and apologies if I'm being a bit thick..

If I put my "kitchen" stuff in a box to prevent having it all in cupboard etc and have another box for (a small amount of) food - so we have stuff like coffee for when we arrive.. HOW do I stop the boxes moving about? If I put them over the axle won't they move about whilst I'm towing?

Any answers to a very obvious question would be greatly appreciated..

The plastic fold flat crate is ideal - you can just put it under the van [or in the awning] once it is empty. They do not move easily on carpet when full.

I have cut a piece of 4"/5" wide wood to fit across the gap just in front of the axle as added protection for emergency braking. Foam armrests and cushions then packed around the crate[s].

My wife also puts cushions inside cupboards with loose items/crockery etc.and  then "tapes" the doors shut.
