Agreed, you can tow 1800kg with a Mondeo too, but I wouldn't tow that weight caravan with one.
The most interesting match I have seen this year is a Mk I Zafira DTi towing a twin axle Coachman with an a/c unit on the roof. That may have been a bit more than the max limit!!!

The max tow weight of a mondeo is 1800 great  but only a fool would drive at that weight.

Thats funny the mark 1 superbs tow weight was revised up to 1600 kg from 1475

the mark 2 hatch is 1800 kg

For lighter vans the Octavia will suffice having a tow weight of 1400

i think were all flogging a dead horse here trying to get him to understand weight ratios.............. lets not forget he is a taxi driver and we all know they are the font of all knowledge

No offence intended to any other taxi drivers

Hi Daverk, I have been towing with a mk3 mondeo 2.0 TDCI Est for nearly 4yrs now with no problems. Had to change DMF and clutch but this was at 130k Miles. and a couple of wheel bearings last year. Car now has just short of 150k miles on clock.it's up to you if you buy a Mondeo for towing, but I would buy another one and do plan too in the future. ( the newer model of mine) Estate comes in handy with our 2 dogs.

We are towing a Bailey Pageant Bordeaux fixed bed and the Mondeo does this with no problems.

All the best!

Merry Xmas

I'd be happy to tow with your Mondeo. One of my workmates has towed with Tdci Modeos for years, he now has a big single axle Swift caravan & stil tows with ihs Mondeo & loves it.

It'll be far better on fuel than your Teranno, I've got a Mondeo 2.0Tdci 130 Estate which I use for work. It's a 54 Plate with a 6 speed manual box & I love it. It returns 45+ mpg just running 2 miles to my yard & back & over 50mpg on motorway journeys regularly. I've been tempted to stick a tow bar on it to pull our Series7 Pageant Provence but I'll see how it goes because we're considering giveing up caravanning because we need the space.
