I have just noticed that on my caravan I have two diferent tyres, same size but I think one is a car tyre -- 165R 13C 94/92Q with a max psi of 65.

(this one is the car tyre I think)165 80R13 83T with a max psi of 44

The max weight of my caravan is 1030kg

I'm finding it hard to get the 165R 13C

So my question is would I get away with replacing the 165R with a car tyre to match the 165 80R13 83T

These details have been supplied from the Camping & Caravanning Club website regarding caravan tyres so this is fact and not my own personal view. Hope it helps.

There is no such thing as a caravan tyre, although some tyre sizes are supplied specifically to fit certain caravans. The same general specification is used for all road vehicle tyres and all are subject to the same rules on tread depth and construction. However, since the whole of a caravan’s weight is carried on just two tyres, the load carrying specification is usually higher. You should always ensure that the tyres fitted can carry the weight of the caravan at the speeds at which it could travel. A tyre fitter should have access to tables to work this out on the basis of tyre size and maximum weight of caravan, but if in doubt consult one of the Approved Caravan Workshops.
When you have the correct tyres fitted it is also important to inflate them to the correct pressure. If you do not have the caravan's handbook available, again your Approved Workshop should be able to help you. Remember that using a tyre which is ‘unsuitable’ for its use is against the law. To locate an Approved Workshop visit...

The 165x13 car tyre has insufficient load rating for a caravan of the weight you state, 83 load index gives a combined weight of only 974kg so you are risking a blowout at motorway speeds. You need 165x13C van tyres for the caravan. These are still made by the likes of Michelin & Conti, I think but these are premium price tyres. The cheaper brands might not do them.

These tyres nowadays are often sized as 165/80x13C but it is same as 165x13C.

It appears Conti list this size in their Vanco Contact2 van tyre range, load index 89 = 1160kg max for the 2 so adequate margin.

I am glad this article has been posted as I have just been to my caravan this weekend to find out its tyre size as it is 5 years old this year and I need to replace them.

Tyres and handbook show 175R 14C 99/95 Load range D.

I tried to get a quote on line but found this impossible as I have no profile number which is required for a quotation.

Maybe I will have to phone up for a price.

Cheers.

If the tyre does not have a profile marked then it will have a profile of 80 which was always the standard profile of a tyre. The profile markings were only introduced when low profile tyres came out, to indicate the profile where it was non-standard. These days, most tyres are low profile, so while the standard profile remains 80, it is such an uncommon profile that most tyre manufacturers now apply the marking. This also helps when filling out forms online for purchasing tyres as they inevitably require a profile size which in this case is not marked.

Many thanks to everyone for their help, will go on line today and do some research for my caravan tyres, quite interested in a mobile unit rather than jacking up caravan, but we shall see.

Cheers.

Please don't discount your local tyre fitter, I have a quote for mine (need doing before I go away again) for £38 a tyre, fitted and balanced, 8ply van tyres, plenty of extra on the loading for my van too.
Another local fitter quoted me £45, so both cheaper than the online ones.
One of these does a mobile service for an extra couple of quid (£5 a wheel last time I got him out to me)

You have to compare like with like when looking at prices. If you would not use cheapest budget tyres on your car then don't use them on your caravan either unless you are just towing locally.
