Hi folks and thanks for reading.
I'm in a bit of a quandry at the minute as to which 4x4 to replace my freelander with for towing my caravan. The van is 24" long and weighs 1400kg with a tandem axle.
I had a Frontera last year which blew up and to be honest struggled to pull the van easily. I replaced that on a temporary basis with a 3dr Freelander (no good for getting the oiks in and out) which has pulled the van to Holland and back without breaking a sweat. Far easier and better than the Fronty did anyway!
So the choices for replacing the Freelander are a Shogun DID or the Sport 2.5 and i was hoping there would be some owners on here that wouldnt mind sharing their experiences of towing with these vehicles so i can get a heads up before i start test driving some.
I'm not really fussed over reliability, fuel consumption etc as they'll all be about the same, its more how they perform when towing that i'm interested to find out more info. Pulling up hills and ease of driving etc. I will be going for a manual transmission if that makes a difference.
Thanks in advance
Griff
