My 'new' caravan has a 13 pin plug so I bought an adaptor but can't get the plug to go in the socket, I hear you have to line them up but I don't seem to be able to twist the pins around...any ideas please

There should be lug a lug on the socket (inside at the bottom) and a slot on the plug. Just line the two up and push home.

Start with flat bit of plug at 90deg to open flap on socket then turn plug clockwise into socket. You may need to spray on a bit of WD40.

Please accept my apologies for posting the wrong information in my previous post. It was the 7 pin plug and socket I was reffering to and not the 13 pin which was what you needed help with. Looking at the 13 pin photo that alpiner has posted there is actually a lug at the bottom of the socket similar to the 7 pin socket but you have to push the plug hard into the socket then turn clockwise to fully connect.

The previous picture is of a single adpator for connecting a 7pin caravan plug to a 13pin car socket. As the op describes it he needs an adaptor that is reverse of that. ie 13pin caravan plug into 7pin car socket, so he needs this adaptor....
If he has twin sockets on his car & wants fridge to work when driving & battery to charge he will need a double adaptor.

Thanks everyone for your help but I'm still not able to get the square lung and the 3 lungs that go into the sockets (the ones that twist) lined up. Apparently the square lung has to be between 2 of the other lugs.....Never say die I'll just keep trying.

It really was seizes up but managed to open part of it up with knife & spray some WD40 in and then with some brute force I managed to connect it up to the socket adaptor...never to be removed again

Thank you to all of you who offered advice
