If you want a 4x4 go for a Skoda Scout or Octavia 4x4 diesel all the power and economy you will ever need.
Both run in 2wd and if the going gets tough the 4x4 kicks in without you noticing
All the emergency services now use them

www.whattowcar.com this site may be of help to you, but with our lightweight Lunar with a max weight of 1150kg the petrol engined Juke is not a good match, you may be ok towing on flat ground in good conditions, but i think you would struggle going uphill and in headwinds. The diesel model does fair better, but still only with a caravan with a max laden weight of 1150kg.
Im not a fan of Kia 4x4s having owned one in the past and had a fair few problems with it, but im sure there must be better choices out there which fit your requirements better than the Juke, which probably relies a lot on its cheeky stylish looks for sales rather than what is actually under its bonnet. Its what has been refered to in the past as an Hairdresser's 4x4, catchy looks and make up, but not much else!

Ha ha ha that made me chuckle, my hairdresser has got one in black!
Back to the OP would the Qashqua not be a better towcar?

I was way off!
I thought they were all 4 wheel drive, but that's only the 1600 petrol.
We tried the diesel, kerb weight 1285! So although we won't have the 85% figure, we won't be 100 either.
We're having a bit more thought, but as we only use the van for local steam and bike rallies, we'll most probably go for it.
The odd time we do go further afield, we use our little camper.
We looked at the Kia, and the Yeti. Both thirsty compared with the diesel Juke, which should give my wife about 45-50 mpg on her work commute.
Thanks everyone, as always, good friendly advice.

I take it you missed watchdog when they slated the quashi and the Juke, it went along these lines they are as much use as a chocolate fire guard
