Are those 2 links correct for your set up?

You need to know the weights of the car and caravan and not knowing the exact model and years of these vehicles we can only guess at suitability. However a quick look on the interweb shows a max tow weight of 1500kg for the Touran and a weight of 1650kg for the Hobby so it looks very unwise if not illegal.

What is the MTPLM weight of your caravan?  I have been towing with a WV Touran 1.9TDI for coming up to 7 years.  I tow at the maximum permitted weight for the car, which is 1,500kg.  I tow in France as well as the UK, and car is well up to the task.  At 4 years I changed to my second Touran ( to go from a 7-seater to a 5-seater with full sized spare), so I would not have stayed with a Touran unless I was completely happy with it.
