A friend of mine is thinking of buying an Audi Q5 to tow a caravan weighing around 1650 kgs. One of his concerns is the 80 kg nose weight limit. Any one had any expeience good or bad with this vehicle ?

A van with a MPTLM of 1650 kgs would ideally need a heavier car than a Q5 to keep to the recommended 85% towing ratio

Q5 2.0 Tdi S Line Quattro 140bhp & 170bhp manual 1755kg kerb weight = 1491 kg(85% match )
Q5 2.0 Tdi Quattro 7 speed S tronic 1820 kg
kerb weight = 1547 kg (85% match )
these figures are from Audi Uk 2012 website (unless I'm reading it wrong)

No the figures I posted of the 2012 Audi Website are the kerb weight figures .
If they include a driver of 75kg I don't know but to keep within the 85% recommendation ratio the Q5 S tronic 2.0 diesel Quattro is not heavy enough for a van with 1650kg MPTLM
This is an AUDI configurator code: AC5NF8M6 for a Q5 S-line, 2.0 tdi 170 s-tronic with just a few extras. It states under Technical data - unladen weight 1895kg, inc towbar.
The configurator has always produced accurate figures for my previous Audis.
Hi was going to buy the Q5 had it for a full day superb car apart from one massive thing it has offset pedals nearly crippled my ankle guess to some people its ok but i would advise a long test day before deciding
