Mine is also Cosmic grey pearl, quite a rare colour now and with 17" alloys :)
Looking at a Bailey ranger 460/2 at the weekend at a local dealer just to see if we like them.
Are they the Milenco Aero Flat Mirrors on your old Civic, I read they are a pretty good set for the Civic.

Yes they are Milenco Aeros. Can't remember if I was running one flat, one converse or two flats, I now run with two flats, but it is personal preference really. The Civic mirrors are a good size & with the civic you are used to the interior mirror just being for decoration so towing is less of a change!!!
From memory Cosmic Grey was stopped in 2008 or so they are a bit rarer than the other colours that had a longer production run.

This might be a nice match a Bailey Ranger 380/2 caravan but the choice is yours .

Civic average MPG towing is around the 34 mark, and about 39 solo, thats doing about two thirds motorway work, and a third A class roads onto site.

We can do North Derbyshire (near Matlock) to West Ayton (Scarbrough, via the coastal road) on about half a tank of petrol, keeping speeds sensible on the Motorway, and traveling at quieter times to try and avoid any hold-ups.

Hi Julie
34mpg pulling a van is excellent!
I was expecting high twenties at the best.
Is 34mpg using the onboard computer, or your own calculation.
I have found that with my own calculations the onboard computer shows approx 4mpg too high, but that would still give very good mpg of 30.
Had a look at a 2006 Bailey Ranger 460/2 at a local dealer yesterday, a very nice van in mint condition but well overpriced!
I was Surprised to see there was no 12 volt stereo fitted.

Hi Tim, thats onboard computer figures set from leaving home and checked on arrival on site, next month im going to be doing the same thing on a longer run down to Norfolk which is mostly A class roads and a few duelled sections of the A1, its about 179 miles from home to destination, and last time we did it, including some crawling through roadworks, we got home having used about a full tank of petrol, but not enough for the low fuel warning lights to come on, and the caravan was fully loaded from a Boating event we had been to, extra chairs, cooking gear, and two awnings, the Kampa 390, and the 260, so we must have been up to the max weight there, but the Civic still managed well.

We have now put a deposit on a 2006 Bailey Ranger 460/2
It comes with a full awning, aqua roll and waste, wheel lock and a BP gas light bottle and cable hookup.
The only thing it doesn't have is an Alco stabilizer hitch, so I am going to order one, I don't fancy towing a van without one

Congratulations on buying your new to you caravan, I hope you have great fun with her, and we will certainly look out for you around the campsites, and come and say hello!

Well we did the long Norfolk tow down last weekend and made it the entire way on two thirds of a tank of petrol, even better than we had hoped for, and with a recent service on both car and caravan, which involved fitting new tyres to both, we certainly have no complaints regards fuel consumption with our outfit, and the way its performing now.

it would be good to compare notes with your Honda once you are up and running and hopefully it will be very similar.

good luck,

Julia

Hi Julie

We will hopefully pick up the Caravan in the next week or 2.
I will certainly let you know how we get on with the economy.
I am just very nervous about towing for the first time, I will be avoiding the M6 when I pick it up, I want to fit my Alco stabilizer first.
I also purchased some Milenco Aero Flat Mirrors, they look really good quality.
Sadly my Westfalia towbar arrived damaged so it had to go back today, I was going to fit it tomorrow :(
Is the reg plate on you Van stuck on with double sided tape or screwed?
I noticed at a local dealers that all plates are stuck on.

Tim

Sorry to pick up an old thread but Captain Kipper/Romany Girl I was wondering how you got on with your caravan/Civic?

We have a 2006 1.8ES Civic (petrol) and I do like the look of the Bailey Ranger 2007 Series 5 470/4, but wondering if it may be a bit heavy?

Thanks F

Hi
Still using my 1.8 civic towing a ranger 460/2, 4 birth might be a bit much for the 1.8 petrol.
you do have to use the gearbox a lot, won't hold 55 in sixth if you come to a slight incline on the motorway.
It does tow very stable though.
Steep hills get me very nervous, for this reason I am looking at changing to a deisel in a couple of months.
Probably going for a BMW 318D or 320D
