I've been traveling from the Chester area to South Wales now for the last 25 yrs (nan lived in Pembrey). I've been solo and towing and used a470,a438, a49 and m56-m6-m5-m50-a40-a449-m4, have to say the best route i've found is coming from the south m4-a449-a40-a49-a5-a483 so if your off to anglesey join a55 at Chester and head west. I find this route is less hilly, an easier drive, has plenty of places to stop, gives better mpg thus less painful on the wallet.
