Please has anyone any tips on towing with a kia sedona 2.9crdi. I have been onto various sites and found that they have a great curb weight. I have just brought one of these and was wondering if there are any points that i will have be mindfull of.

Please any advice welcome.

Heres hoping for a great summer :-)

Indifferent build quality, You need to make sure you test everything.

Possible weak link, Head gaskets. Seen a few with cars for sale with them gone.

Slipped timing also.

Diesel Bob sums it up nicely

Fuel pumps are weak in the CRDI, when they fail repair cost often exceeds value of car.

I had one which suffered recurrent ETAC failure, Kia gave up on it in the end (under warranty) and basically bought it back off me.

TBH i found a remap made it a far better tow car, other than that its weight makes it a good choice

True, in fact Kia had never had an ETAC unit fail over and over like it did in mine. They planned to rewire the entire car after getting it back off me, so if anyone bought a black 06 plate LE with sidebars and a roof mounted DVD be wary!

the head gasket itself is NOT a weak link, however, the car has a rear heater/blower, check under the car, mainly around the O/S spare wheel, there are some steel pipes that feed this rear heater.
There are other sections of steel, but the rears get all the spray etc, so are the most susceptible, these start off my leaking/weeping then eventually burst, leading to overheating, and hence head/headgasket issues.
90% of the head gasket issues have evolved from either these pipes failing, or the system not being bled properly after replacement, and an airlock forming.
head over to the kia owners forum, theres some instructions on there on replacing the whole run in a rubber hose.
Ive had mine for about 18 months, its an 03 plate, just had AN injector replaced, £300, love the car though, tows well, drives great, and a decent amount of go for such a large heavy car.
Try to get one with a proven timing belt change, your looking at £400 for a full kit replacement, the kit itself is £250, there are so many idlers and tensioners on it.
