Not sure if this is the right place for this thread but, I'm stuck on this one. My son is looking at buying a Ford Focus ST with a 5 cylinder 2.5 litre turbo petrol engine in it. The car is lovely & clean with only 25K on the clock. My worry is it's MPG, I'm thinking it'll be thirsty & probably high on the RFL too.
If anyone knows anything about this model I'd appreciate any advice.
hi. my son had an st focus i can say they are rubbish on fuel and thats being kind... but its worth it. they are so fast, it will leave you with a big smile on you face....but if your in the market for fuel econemy...dont look at the focus st

Brother has one and it's currently averaging around 21mpg. It's used on a 30 mile daily journey half on a dual carriageway and the other half on local roads.
RFL is £245 I think.
BUT-what a car!
Endless amounts of power and torque-it will pull from 20mph in 6th gear. There is no turbo lag and the sound from the 5 cylinder is superb.
Got me thinking of buying a Mondeo estate with the same engine.
My sister has a 2006 ST shes trying to sell, but not having any luck atm,it's costing her an arm and a leg on fuel now,and insurance, she did tell me the mpg she got but I've forgotten, but I do know it's not good. But it sure is a fun car to drive

The road can be tough and rough, but what you put in you get back 10 x more.
Thanks for the replies, I appreciate eveyone taking the time to answer me. Peter's just told me he was quoted just over £1400 to insure an ST. He currently drives a Corsa 1.8sri & fancies a change but I fear the ST could cost him a lot to get to work as he drives 18 miles each way & sometimes in very heavy traffic.
Perhaps it's just me being old & miserable but, I've been trying to convince him to either hang on to his Corsa for another year when I'll buy it off of him & recycle it down to one of his younger sisters. Then for him to look at a Mondeo Tdci with all the refinements & the big engine or, look through the Vauxhall range & have a new one taking advantage of their current finance offers. Time wil tell & thanks again for the informative replies.
