hi we have a small trailer which we use for camping, the tyre size is 4.80/4.0-8 does anyone know the correct tyre pressure it says max psi 60 on the tyre any ideas would be helpful thanks

If it says 60 psi max. on the tyre wall then then this is applied for a full load of equipment in the trailer. If all your eqipment is fairly light then just take a bit of pressure out say to about 55 psi. and see if the tyres don't look deflated at all.

hi thanks for info ive been reading posts from other members and it seems to range from 30 psi to your figure of 55 psi its quite confusing ive tried looking on the net but figures vary there too

They sound more like caravan tyre pressures actually. The smaller the tyre the higher the pressure is because it works on pounds per square inch so the smaller the tyre the less volume there is inside so the pressure increases. It sounds rather confusing because at one time I thought the bigger the tyre the more pressure was needed but after it was explained to me by a tyre fitter many years ago it made sense on the basis of pounds per SQUARE INCH.

hi yes thats the tyre and thats the tyre at its max with the load at 268kg were only taking camping gear so i was thinking of bewteen 30/40 psi ?
