HI everyone Were new to this site,
Just been given an older caravan were restoring which is going really well but I cant find a weight anywhere for it, After removing the Aframe cover I found a plate for the B&B chassis which indicated 1150kg max but I believe this is just the chassis capability.
The caravan is an ABI abbey tornado gt 4 berth of approx 1986 vintage. Its very basic only cold water etc. Been told its a 12ft van but although I havent measured it yet I think its more 14ft.
Any help would be greatly appreciated
Thanks
Hi are you sure it's a abi? Elddis did a tornado GT.

The road can be tough and rough, but what you put in you get back 10 x more.
Hi, thanks for your post! I Believe Its an Elddis I have no Idea where I got the abbey bit from! the Plate by the door where you would usually find the weight has ABI on it and a website I found lists it as an ABI Elddis tornado gt. Im very confused.com!!
There are 80s Elddis caravans with same body shape as ABI Monza etc so the 2 makes must have had some sort of connection at the time. Monzas etc of that era are fairly light. If you need to guess, for a 12ft body length say 800kg all up & for 14ft body, say 1 tonne.
Elddis was part of the ABI Group for a number of years.
They first introduced the Tornado GT in 1980 and it continued into 1981, for 1982 the Tornado dissappeared for a while and they moved from B&B to an ALKO chassis. Therefore it would look like your van is from 80 or 81.

Hi I am wondering if you still have this van.... I have recently purchased this type of van for restoration and I am finding it difficult to find out about the leisure battery location and wiring, I am also looking for information on the bunk locations and how they were assembled. I hope you can help thanks Tommy
