Hi campers...any recommends for decent insurance companies with a view to insuring a ford ranger doublecab pick-up..private use only..that is social, domestic and camping! Most insurers assume I,m carrying the crown jewels around on a daily basis!!! Appreciate your thoughts--Thanks
Direct Line are fairly reasonable if you use the Van and truck rather than the car team for the quote. Aviva seem to have put rates up a lot in the last couple of years.

I drive a nissan navara double cab truck and insure it with tesco's, i found most of the insurance companies didn't want to know as its classed as light commercial
Cheers everybody....direct line + aviva should win a comedy award...nfu dont insure in my postcode.....tesco came within £200....the co-op are leading at this moment with kwik-fit not far behind and reckon they can do a better deal over the phone! Thanks for your input...will let you know the outcome and hopefully help you all.Just so you know...fully comp..£200 excess...legal cover...enhanced courtesy car...windscreen cover with £75 excess now at£333.00. I am 50 with a lot of no-claims..20+ years...keep you posted.
I used KwikFit once. They were a PITA to deal with.
The following year they tripled the premium, This was before the big hikes in prices also.
The insurer i was with got bought out and was closing down. Got a quote from KwikFit about £180. The following year they wanted just over £600. No claims, accidents or anything.
I got a quote from direct line for £1 less than i paid the year before.
But a couple of years back, Direct line did the same thing. Jumped from £300 or so to nearly £500.
Ive been with them for over 7 years.
I phoned to cancel the renewal and they dropped the price to £300 again.
Following year no budge on the price jump so i moved again.
