just bought a freedom caravan - to tow with my hyundai i10 - all with in weight limits - can legally tow 800kgs and this is unladen 650 and laden 750kgs.
am i totally crazy for this? iv seen on here a few posts of people towing with small cars and it is reassuring.
Hi,
Yes we bought a freedom sun seeker club class this year and love it, it's so cute ! We fit in it with our 7 month old baby and our 2 beagles, admittedly we do need the awning !
We are now thinking of recovering the seats and redoing the curtains and of course the damn headlining needs doing, the seller forgot to tell us about that !
I tow my Sunseeker with my Seat Ibiza which is a 1.4 diesel, no problems on the move but it is a bit of an art pulling away on hills and won't reverse uphill.

If you can't see the light at the end of the tunnel, just keep going till you go round the bend.
Soz, meant to add I tow it with a golf plus 1.9tdi so not a small car, but we bought the freedom due to our towing restrictions on our licences, seems we have been towing bigger vans illegally !
Hi Beagle, we have a Freedom Microlite LE, which comes as standard with a wc washroom. We have converted our washroom to take a shower tray and it is effectively a wet room lined with uPvc.Quite a bit of work to do this but well worthwhile for us.
We bought it to replace our last motorhome when we moved to a home with very little parking space.
Which model is yours ? We are very pleased with ours. The bed is easily big enough, comfy and quick to make up. The kitchen lacks worktop space but is manageable.
We tow with a 1.6 Tdci Fiesta Mk 7 and repeatedly achieve 45 mpg towing which is a big attraction for us. We use an imported Raclet awning for longer stopovers which greatly enhances useable space but we frequently dont put it up and use the car for storage of chairs etc. Best wishes with your Freedom !

Beagle ps. I have been trying to get my son to buy an i10 . A relative bought one recently and says it's brilliant, but he doesn't tow with it. My son would probably tow with his if he buys one. Please let us know how you go on.
News of All "Freedom" experiences , good and bad , past and present welcomed!

Hello Freedom fans. I have a Mitsubishi Space Star 1.6 petrol. I bought my Freedom from fife and towed it 200 plus miles home and got 38 mpg.
Mine is a Freedom Sport and my previous Freedom was a Discovery which I had to re-line the roof.
Just posted some pics on the roof lining on the repair section but here's one i did earlier.
Off to St Andrews in August and will be towing the Sport up there.
Hi dinkum. Not bad for a girly .
I found the best thing to remove the lining glue was a stanley knife and a cordless drill with a wire brush drill bit in it.
The carpet was then fitted in pieces to make it easier.
The extension lead which you can see at the front (individually switched)was to tidy up the kettle/twin electric hob/stereo/hair dryer/ etc. Not used all at once of course.
I was sorry to see the Discovery go after all the work I did on her but found a 3 berth Sport uk spec. The roof lining is fine in this one.
Just managed to source the same awning (like new) I had in the previous Freedom and I have sent if off to be reduced in size and have storm straps fitted.
Enjoy your freedom.
My mum has an I10 and loves it, great little car
We used to tow a freedom with a 1.3 wagon r when we first started, the I10 is a 1.2 so you should be ok although it may struggle on some hills so a bit of forward planning maybe needed but you should be ok
------------- Never take life seriously. Nobody gets out alive anyway.
I have a Jetstream 1st class and I tow with a 1300 Yaris MkII. I think I get about 30 -40mpg. Uphills are a struggle and even on the motorway you have to keep your wits about you as the hills will sap your "power". Aim to stay no more than 55mph as it can snake quite easily above that.
But it is a great little rig and I don't expect to change my car for a while.
love my freedom jetstream - due to get towbar fitted but unsure if it will obstruct my registration plate as it is an hyundai i10 comfort 1.2cc - can legally tow 800kgs and the caravan is 650-750kg laden. has anyone towed with an i10? please can u let me know how it was
I tow a freedom microlite discovery le with a mk3 fiat Panda with a 1.2 petrol, fitted an almost stabiliser, no problems I just take it nice and steady.
