I used Towbar Express last year, they were helpful and quick to reply to my questions and they were also cheaper than my local chaps, I'm still waiting for a quote from one of the local firms.
agreed, without knowing the vehicle its impossible to say if its steep or not.
Ive had them from £140 to £300 so far, and neither had any electrickery involved, just the standard splicing.
if its a new car, its also possible that there are no third party bar avaliable if its a new model, so its would have to be Witter.
No price is about right.
Gone are the days of just simply bolting a tow bar on. Now you often need to fit a replacement rear bumper protection beam and modify the rear bumper, plus the vehicle electrics need reprogramming to accept the trailer electrics.
And if you think that is expensive try looking at BMW prices!!
We used Britannia Towbars in Bristol. They did a nice tidy job of fitting one on our Mondeo. They were slightly more money than a Gloucester based mobile firm I was recommended to use but, although I could be wrong, I thought it better to have a fixed location in case there was a warranty issue.
if its the folding towbar it sounds about right, if its a fixed bar you could find it cheaper if you shop around.
if you go for the folding one do not let them cut the bumper, the factory fit bar comes with a handle in the boot that you pull and the bar folds out through a removable panel on the rear of the lower bumper and a warning light changes to green when locked into position.
again if its a folder do not let them cut the bumber, if they do you will have a hole in your bumper thats 14 inches x 4 inches and looks sh--e (and no replaceable panel)
the fitting of the bar needs a dedicated wiring harnes and a ecu re-map.

But we had all that done and only paid - can't remember but it's less that £300 - £220?
