Listerdiesels No 1 rule combined with a little common sense goes a long way. If you do have to pitch on grass that has a slope, make sure that you are facing downhill for when you have to leave.
So far, traction hasn't been a problem with the BM, a decent nose weight and a soft power delivery help rather than the all-or-nothing that my Passat had.
Just remember that you are not allowed in the BMW lane on the motorway the caravan cancels your membership to the club

For a licence dated 1997 or later you must add together the plated max weight of the caravan and trailer, if the total is 3500 or less you can tow it. You may even tow a caravan with a MAM greater than the cars unladen mass the restriction was removed in 2013

....and you'll have to get the indicators re-enabled....and you've got absolutely NO chance of being let out of a junction with a caravan AND a BMW...

Yeah, common sense is the main thing and so far never been stuck in the BMW, but have worried a bit once or twice when pitched when the rain has been coming down.
Mine has traction control which works really really well, but it all comes down to tyre choice I find. Im down to around 4.6mm now on the rears which will be ok to around October.
On a more serious note, I have been towing for over twenty years and whilst I have tried 4x4s I have never owned one. In that time I have never been stuck on a wet field without traction, I have never left a field with a set of tracks in the field behind me, and I have been on some very wet grass sites in that time. If I were you I would not worry too much about getting stuck, just take it easy with your right foot and be gentle with the clutch and you will in virtually all circumstances be fine.
