Hi all,

this is the first trailer I have owned with a Alko hitch and I have a (probally) silly question. When I unhitch the trailer from the car, the locking lever stays in the "up" position. Is this correct or should the lever spring back down when I let it go. I ask because if this is right then what about the hitch lock? How do i get it on with the lever raised?

regards

F

Do you mean the big red handle or the small black one. You have to lower the red one yourself after the Al-ko hitch lock is fitted. Insert the red "golf ball" into the hitch and gently press the black handle if it is up and it should go down. If it is already down you need to raise it to fit the "golf ball".

Okay great. I don't have a "golf ball" as I have never seen the reasoning behind them. I shall get one and try it out. Thanks.

the black one when hitching up must go down and the red handle requires some pressure to lock it.on unhitching the black handle some times stays up.just push it back down again.

the only silly question is the one you do not ask.

The reason behind using a "Golf Ball" is to prevent a ground down towball being used to borrow your caravan
