Hello there everyone. I have a bit of a problem with my & my brother-in-laws tow cars .First of all , the cars are , mine, a citreon picasso 2.0 HDI 52 plate. His, a Nissan Terrano 2.7 Tdi Y plate 2000 . Now the prob is, when I connect mine to my van ,a Swift Conqueror , everything works , tail lights , indicators & most of all ,brake lights . Now , when I plug mine to his van , a Swift Corvett ? (a swift anyway) Everything works as above . When he pugs into his every thing works as above . BUT, when he plugs into mine everything except the BRAKE LIGHTS.
I have checked & cleaned the plug terminals , checked the bulbs & fitments .
Its got us stumped , if you could've seen us changing cars to vans & back again , more than once too.
So , have any of you Jockey Wheeling Caravanners out there had any similar problems , if so could you point us in the right direction please .
Thank You veeeeeerrrrry Much..........

As both caravans are fine on your car suggests caravan wiring ok..When he connects to his ok which suggests his car wiring ok.Therefore it must be contact between different plugs and sockets.I would get a thin screwdriver and open up all pins on both plugs and sockets to ensure tighter connection.

Well done that man . I did that this morning .

Hey presto !

I know you won't believe , but , I did that before reaing your reply . Honest I did .

Because his socket is well worn compared to our van plug .

But this just goes to show how helpful & sound the advice given on here is .

Thank you very very much .

On the 7 pin plugs you will find if you do not keep the centre pin on the auxiliary plug and socket tight fit these burn out due to load of fridge when towing.
