I wonder if somebody who has a 2005-2008 Skoda Octavia could please check in their handbook and tell me what the kerbweight is for the 2.0TDI Estate DSG (model year 2005-2008). Most of the websites I have looked at say 1575kg, but I have also seen lower weights mentioned.
I'm thinking of buying one of these cars (a 2007 or 2008 model) and don't want to make an expensive mistake! If it's 1575kg then that's ideal, but I want to check what the Skoda literature actually says.
I know the post-2009 models have a much lower kerbweight, so possibly this is the source of some of the confusion.
Thanks SkodaBob - yes, I have already seen the cuddles website, but wanted to check the figures from Skoda (as I don't 100% trust these unofficial websites... call me paranoid!).
Thanks LlaniDavis - is that info taken from the handbook? I see it's slightly lower than the Cuddles website (1560kg vs 1575kg). Not a big difference, admittedly.
Sorry, my mistake, I missed the Estate bit. In that case it is 1575kg, 85% 1339kg.
From my experience the 2cuddles" site is correct. Their figures certainly tally with all that is stated in my Yeti Handbook, and on the label at the bottom of the B post, drivers side.
Have a look on the 'Auto Trader' website and enter the exact year and details to the vehicle in question. When you have found an identical vehicle there are tabs with kerbweights, BHP, torque, towing limits etc. basically everything you need to know. The details regarding the Ford Focus estate and saloon versions have been accurate to the Ford brochure so I take it that there has been much research regarding the vehicles being advertised. Hope this helps.

Thanks all. Autotrader and cuddles agree on 1575kg for the Estate, so I now have some confidence that that figure is correct!
Now I just have to find one for sale locally in my price range...
There are 2 or 3 estates in the Skoda dealer in Exeter down in Mash Barton, had a look at them 3 weeks ago, if you need a service go to Volkstech just around the corner, turn right on the canal road unit is behind some more Much cheaper than the dealer
Thanks Skodabob. The Skoda dealer in Exeter is out of my price range unfortunately - it seems the main dealers in Exeter are more expensive than 'up country'. Have seen a couple further afield that would suit me, but I'm hoping more used stock will come available after the 62 reg plates come out in September.
Just put down a deposit on a 2008 Octavia Estate 2.0TDI Elegance DSG. Thanks for the advice, all.
Skodabob - I haven't come across Volkstech in Exeter - do you mean Volkscraft? I have previously used VWS (who were fine) but would certainly appreciate recommendations for other VAG specialists.

A good choice if I say so, yes it could be volkcraft, but I still think its volkstech, its at the end of canal road on the right about 200 yards before the road narrows to go over the railway, you drive through a gap to some workshops, there is also a car restoration shop next door volkstech on the left strait ahead.
Get them to plug it into there vagcom to see if there is any problems with it for piece of mind
I'm buying from a main dealer and it has an excellent full Skoda service history (last done in May at 52000 miles including cam belt change), so hopefully there shouldn't be any problems.
I just rang the dealers to check the weight on the V5 for the vehicle I'm buying, and they said it says Mass in Service is 1450kg! How can this be?
Vehicle is a June 2008 Octavia Estate 2.0TDI PD DSG Elegance.
I know the weights dropped when the Octavia III came out, but was there a change in the late Octavia II as well? Or is the V5 wrong? Or am I making a huge mistake? The supposed 1575kg kerbweight was an important factor in my choice of car.
Can anyone with genuine information (not just the cuddles website, please) shed some light on this?
