its well documented on the Galaxy forums that the single mass flywheel doesn't work terribly well on the galaxy, part of the problem lies in the two piece drive shaft assembly and the engine/gearbox mounts (weak points)which isn't terribly robust compared to normal vw standards. Speaking to a friend of mine who is a VW independant mechanic, he states that in recent years the price of the complete DMF kits has dropped considerably, he is getting a lux kit for just under £350 trade now which was nearer £800 two years ago. In his words its not worth taking the risk buggering up the gearbox now for the sake of £100, wheras two years ago it was worth the risk for the sake of 500 quid.
