Hi, I picked up my new to me van, and they noted on the service that the battery was completely flat and may be dead, so I am testing it.
I have an 11watt lamp running off it which equates to 0.90 amps. The battery is a 100ah battery. So if the light runs for 100 hours my battery is putting out about 90 ah and if it runs for 50 hours it's about 45ah. Is this right.?
Amps = Watts / Volts, so your "calcs" are theoretically correct.
However, as the battery discharges it also reduces in voltage which throws things out.
Generally, lead-acid batteries are pretty useless when they discharge to below 10.5V.
I suggest best approach is a 'suck it and see' one. Try using your new 'van for a weekend and see what happens. Worst thing is that you will need a new battery, which you suspect already.
