I have a Rover 75 diesel.

Has anyone used a 75 as a towcar. How did you rate it when towing.

I really like driving the old bus.It doesn't have a towbar at the moment so before I fit one just looking for a bit of feedback.

Saloon / estate, 114bhp or 129bhp.

Suspensions a bit soft but it depends what you plan on towing with it.

I have MG zt 134+/ ROVER 75 type, its a 2litre diesel which pulls our Elldis 462 Avante perfectly, never does less than 30 to the gallon often 35mpg, its getting on a bit now but its finding a better tow car to replace it, some times I forget the vans on the back!

The Rover 75 diesel is the best towcar I've had for the money.
I tow a 1300 kg 'van - no problem, 30-34 mpg whilst towing (and that's with 118,000 on the clock), and the car is heavy enough to absorb any attempts by the 'van to 'wag the dog'. Don't listen to all the wild stories about head gaskets etc. - yes, SOME of the 1.8 petrol engines did suffer from this problem, but the diesel is virtually bullet proof and has NO history whatsoever of this type or problem!

Can't beat a BMW diesel engine, can't afford a BMW.

Rover 75 good for towing and luxury for general day to day travel.

Usually gets better than 40mpg certainly 35mpg when towing.

Tow bar is ok for up to 1000kg

My van is a five berth.
