Hello all. I know this comes up as a subject regularly. I am normally on a half term break at Abbey Wood with a fist full of Tesco vouchers but someone decided to drive into my towcar on a roundabout. So I have time on my hands to check over the van. Does anyone have a definitive list of what Bailey call the essential habitation equipment effects? They list the mass of this at 68 kg. Does it include the battery and a full gas cylinder etc?

Gas, Battery, Water in the tanks.

The figures appear to be a joke though. Someone commented on his van having a 47kg allowance for this.

But the factory's figures for each item did not match the gross figure.

Gas 26kg - 30kg, Battery 17kg, Toilet tank 7kg, Heater 10kg.

Book said 47kg. Those items wegh 60 - 64kg.

You really need to get your van weighed to be sure. I do remember a complaint in one of the caravan mags.

Guy weighed his caravan and found it to be only 60kg below its gross laden weight.
And that was unladen.

So the 200kg+ payload he thought he had would have pushed him way over the limit.

If i remember rightly they replated it at a higher weight.

Partly why you cant take internet and brochure prices as gospel. His van will be plated higher than the rest and other owners maybe overloading theirs.

Bit of a minefield.
