More out of curiosity of how you found it, not getting one...
Was just away last week, wandered up the site, and smelt the unmistakable smell of burning clutch, wandering a bit further, I spot a nice new Antara, smoke billowing form under the bonnet.

Being a nice chap, I wandered over and offered my fender to finish the job.
It wasn't an overly big van, double axle, but not huge the pitch on a slight slope, but nothing massive (can't remember what it was) and seeing as the deisel has a 2T capacity, don't see as it should have been struggling

You can cook the clutch on any car trying to get a caravan onto a tight pitch in 20 shunts, it is difficult to avoid slipping the clutch without stalling engine while trying to avoid reversing into a tree. The heaviest duty clutch will still burn if you slip it.

A Landrover has a low range reverse gear & diff locks to give better control at low speed in slippery conditions, which an suv like an Antara will not have. The best way to get a caravan onto a tight pitch is to fit a mover or push it if you have enough bodies, one needs to avoid situations that cook clutches or get a 'proper' 4x4 like a Landrover.

Ive been to this site a few times myself, towing with a 406, and a sedona, both of which reversed onto the same pitches with little trouble, the 406 had a little smell , but this was smoke, and plenty of it.
Always had a little clutch smell getting my van back onto my drive, another reason for getting the landy.

Just a bad driver then, or perhaps it was a company car so he didn't care. If you can smell gently cooking clutch it is sensible to at least stop & let it cool down. Nothing to do with the car although some do seem to have higher reverse gears than others & a high reverse gear will to cause driver to slip clutch more while trying to reverse caravan at slowest possible speed.

or perhaps it was a company car so he didn't care  ........... yeah i've met plenty of people on campsites that deliberately try to damage damage their cars

We were looking to buy one, but even the sale guy said that the mpg was terrible towing lucky if it got 20mpg, and even solo the mpg was only 30ish, not good.

If you overheat the clutch putting a caravan onto a pitch you may worry if you are paying the repair bills, if you are not paying & only likely to have the car for a year then you may not. I'm failing to see the deliberate damage.

We have had three Fronteras, (lease cars) they were all excellent towcars. We used 4 low to manouvre. Motor mover now fitted!

Looked at the Antara did not like it so bought the Sorento.

Chevvy Captiva seems popular which I beleive is basically the same car as Antara.

Vauxhall do the lifetime warranty for first owner which is worth having.

Get an automatic - no clutch burning. It solved my problem of reversing up a steep drive.
