Thinking of replacing my trusty 02 Passat tdi Estate with an X trail 2.0DCi, cos we live in the sticks and just fancy a 4x4, and the X Trail seems to tick all the boxes in terms of boot size etc. Looking at an 08 car probably an Aventura. It wont be our main car as I have a company car.
I know they drive ok as I hired one in Oz a did about 2000kms in it. Just wondered what they tow like.
We have had our X trail for the last 4 years it tows our Bailey Ranger like a dream you don't even know you are towing it no bounce and plenty of power and good on fuel and ours is an old one 2003 plate with 70000 on the clock but on tip if you buy one make sure you get 2 keys with it they cost £300 from Nissan.Ian

Likewise have a 2003 with 70k on the clock. I suppose the answer to the question is, what do you want to tow with it? Have towed a bailey Senator Arizona some thousands of miles without a twitch. Not so sure it would be quite as happy with a twin axle Hobby behind it . For the average size family van can't fault it......Mick.
We have a '55 Xtrail SVE and tow a Compass Omega which is the same weight as your Elddis. It is an absolutely fantastic car and pulls the van with ease. It goes to France every year and has done long days on the autoroutes and some scary hills and never faltered. We also usually have two bikes on a tow bar mounted carrier at the same time. We love it.
We have an 08 X-Trail sport from new and love it. Other half says it tows our Challenger with ease (I won't tow). When not towing it's my car and I drive it everywhere and love it. The reversing camera is brilliant and the fitted satnav is excellent. Due to where we live it has proved to be a boon in winter, easily dealing with snow, ice and everything else that gets thrown at it. We keep it well maintained and to date it has never let us down.
Hi we had an 08 X Trail Aventura and towed our Ace Prestige 35 with no problem, during our 3 years of ownership we had no problems, only tyres and service. So decided to replace it with a new X trail Techno in April this year, I can not fault the X Trail it has been brilliant with low running costs
HI we have an 05 Xtrail great for towing, we came from charte marine last year France 810 miles towing three up none stop in twenty hours the xtrail didn't even blink, its a real mile muncher of a car. We did have three of the fuel jets go before this and i am glad that we had car
cover to pay for the repair £2000 ouch but apart from that its a great car.
