Fred, I had a similar problem a few years ago. It turned out to be the plastic towball cover. It would be ok for a while and then it would twist slightly after I had knocked it when unloading, this made the sensors pick up the towball cover and drive me mad. It took me ages to work out what was happening but it was then easily cured by making sure the cover was straight.
