WEETAM Hi, I have 54 plate 2ltr Santa-Fe diesel (only has 35000 mls on the clock) and tow like you a 2011 Charisma 550. Have only done local trips (tows well so far), so would like to know your opinion for general towing, as we are off to south of France later in the year with plenty of motorway inclines. Andy

my santa fe is an auto 2.7 petrol with lpg conversion, i towed a trailer with around 1.5 tonnes of timber (for decking) and paving slabs to the vendee. i chose to use the non toll roads so the roads were hilly and winding, the sf pulled like a dream so long as you didnt keep your foot hard down all the time. if you stick to the toll roads they tend to have 'easier' gradients, so you shouldnt have any problems with your 2l diesel

lol, i retired about 2 years ago, ex gmc and essex, last 5 years full time fbu official !! BUT DONT BLAME ME enjoy france! we have a static on the vendee and have just bought a small camper to do a bit more 'touring' - problem with retiring 'early' is that the other half still wants to keep on working and who am i to stop her, ker-ching LOL, no, she enjoys it too much, and at least we get all the school holidays to get to the van!

lol, I was a FBU rep for years (like being piggy in the middle). I well remember the first strike in 77, speaking at the freinds meeting house Euston and confronting Micheal foot on the steps of the TUC, those were the days. Fortunately my better half packed up about the same time, she sold her florist shops, sold out just in time as the recession was about to begin. Any way less swinging the lamp, thanks for the info and have many more years in France enjoying yourselves. Andy
