Have you decided what type of bar you will have fitted, detachable or fixed? I currently have a Titanuim with a factory fit detachable bar and I'm changing to the X sport. I've asked my dealer to see if he can swap the bar from one car to the other. The only problem I see is if the can acurately cut the hole in the bumper as there is no template.
Hi Steve a detachable bar possibly westfela but I wont be fitting this one .there is pictures of the holes you need to cut I think the template comes with the bar but I could be wrong so don't quote me LOL.
Regards Rob
Rob, The towbar on my current smax is a westfalia detachable and I've had no problems with it withe the exception of losing one of they keys and it cost me a small fortune to get a replacement. If you do get one of these it would be worth make a note of the key number just in case you need a repalcement. Hopefully my dealer will do the changeover for me as part of the deal!!
Joggers95 (Rob?) - Do live in / near Thatcham in Berks and if so who do you use to fit towbars in that area and do you know anyone around Maidenhead.
I am looking at getting one fitted to a Ford SMax Titanium but seem to get vastly different prices quoted from 250 to 350 for the same thing without Ford Loom.
It is only for a Pendle Towbar bike rack with 7Pin electrics - but needs a Flange Towbar for bike rack fitting - Should I get proper Ford Loom for electrics and can / should 7 Pin be upgraded to 12 pin (Sorry I am a complete novice in this area).
Hi have a look at towshure the flange bar and single 7 pin electrics works out at just over £ 281 this includes fitting nearest to me is Southampton I think but have a look at their site . I will be use a garage in Hungerford called AMJ Auto services as me and this guy worked together in a garage in newbury a few years ago his number is 01488 686611 or e-mail gavin at amjautoservices.co.uk

I have the Titanium X Sport and fitted a detachable Wesfalia towbar.
If anyone is interested - click on my profile as I have posted a couple of photos of the towbar - 1 in place and 1 all tucked away.
The main thing to be aware of, as the angle of the bodywork means the cuts are visible, is not to cut too big a hole (obviously really)
Hi rb222lb seen your picture of towbar. Does it remove or just fold away? Can see the electric socket has moved when detached. Is that why there is a slightly bigger hole needed compared to when the towbar is out?
Hi JEdwards,
The towball piece removes and leaves a receiver piece that you put a "bung" in when not used - just visible in the after picture and yes the electrics are on a swivel bracket so you tuck it away when not needed but that does give the impression of a too big hole when the electrics are down - but as I usually have a caravan on the end of it when down I don't worry too much about it
On the Smax owners club website there are people who have fitted their own and opinions on how best to minimise cuts etc - highly recommend membership for a tenner to get more info
