Hiya,
I have just bought a used Erde122 trailer. This is too large to get into my back garden so must remain on the front drive. Does anyone have some advice on how to secure on the drive vi thought about a Hitchcock and wheel clamp, but the trailer could be lifted into back of a van. I also though about putting a metal loop secured to the block paving and locking the trailer to that, but again some could either unscrew the bolts in the block paving or just yank the blocks out. Any suggestions ideas will be most welcome!! Thank UKCAMPSITE community.
Ground anchor concreted into the ground and a decent lock.
Not a silly loop that can be opened with a pen lid or cust through with a £1 shop hacksasw blade in 2 minutes. Or a cable you can cut with a blunt penknife.
A proper chain and lock.
Security can cost as much as the trailer though. I fitted castors to mine.
I cut part of the floor out, dug a hole around a foot and a half cube. At work, I made a piece of very heavy steel box section with a thick solid bar welded so far down inside the box section. On the outside of the box, I welded some 'spikes' on, to hold the box down in the hole when I then concreted it in.
I then secured my bike using an insurance apporved lock and chain.
Thanks everyone. Done some research and the trailer is s bit too big to get into the back garden even with the wheels off. I think the best solution is a ground anchor cemented into the drive and padlock and chain it to that. Will invest in a wheel clamp too as this will be handy when we are on sites
Been racking my brain how to get mine secure and I thought of this today. Get one of these trailer hitches. Bolt it to your wall, if your trailer is in a position to do so. Then pop your trailer on to the hook and hitch lock it
No ones going to shift the trailer except you...............

We have a 2 foot cubic block of concrete set in front of the house. There is a post with a ball on top to which we lock the caravan hitch on.This device, together with our wheel clamp, satisfies our insurance company as the two anti-theft devices required.
Natch, if they want it they will try, but on a main road, and with the noise they would need to make, me and my lad would cut their bl00dy arms off before they got halfway to having it away.
Can't post a pic ATM cos our Flikr has been logged out and I can't remember the details as we are on the back of one of my son's accounts and he is in USA.

I have one of these bolted to an RSJ, I had the nuts welded once they were tight so they can't be removed without a grinder. I then dug a hole which is approx 24 inches across & 30 inches deep then I painted the RSJ with several coats of Hammerite & concreted it into the flower border. To finish it off I put a pair of electrical sockets on the RSJ so I can keep the Caravan/Trailer electric plug tidy & dry.
Hitch your trailer to that with a hitch lock & (If I were you) have a loop of steel rod welded to the RSJ through which you can pass a chain to put through your trailer chassis to help increase its security.
I've lost one caravan off my drive & don't intend making it easy for any passing scum to help themselves to anything else from here.
