Hi there, my local Honda dealer is offering 1 years extended warranty for £299 (with Euopean Breakdown), is it worth it? Our 10 plate i-Dtec has only done 26k. or would we be better of just having European breakdown cover, that's if I can persuade the OH to go abroad.
BTW was quoted £700 with Warranty Direct which subsequently dropped to £299 after advising them of the dealer price, over priced in the first place me thinks
£299 seems reasonable for a Genuine Honda warranty/Breakdown cover. I had Warranty Direct many years ago and they paid out ok but insisted I took the car to a garage from their network of preferred garages who then made the car worse resulting in a big battle between them an me - in the end they let a main dealer fix it at their expense.
When I enquired online to put a warranty on a car last year with them, they kept phoning me with the real hard sell. Very off puting!
Honda will do this to all there cars up to 8 years old ,and is the same price for 7years old or 4 years old ,cars had my CRV from new sept 2006 and every year at service time renew my warrenty they also do it monthly at no extra cost,go through the dealer though as renewal direct from Honda is always more expensive ,and is exactly same cover
I went on the Warranty Direct site to get a comparison for my Mitsubishi dealer warranty. Next day I had a call from a guy who was very "pally" something I don't like from a salesman especially when I have not met them! I told him I only wanted one question answered - what do they consider to be betterment as that would not be covered. 15 minutes later when he had gone through his patter I asked the question again to be told that it was the best deal I would get. I repeated I only wanted him to answer my question, he asked me to wait ( I thought I would get an answer to my one and only question) and less than 5 seconds later he said he had spoken to his manager and the quote was reduced by over £100, he told me I wouldbe an idiot not to accept as he could not keep the price as it "was the last week in the month offer only".
I told him I only wanted my question answered and as he coculd not do that I preferred to deal with a company who I believed had better integrety ie Misubishi. He hung up!!!
I renewed the warranty on my 7 yr old CR-V last year and so far have had a seat runner replaced due to worn bushes (the quote was heart stopping for this job) and they are just about to replace a worn suspension bush. It's been well worth the money, but I do have to keep reminding them I've got it.
