I am contemplating buying a 04 Honda crvi vtec 2.0 exec.
I am getting loads of conflicting info about the capability of car to deal with my van, a Hymer nova with a max load of 1350. To be honest there is so much confusing weights info out there it is giving me a head ache.

Towing limit is 1500kgs if it is a MK2 (wheel on rear door), nose weight I think is around 70 kgs, it would be better to get the 2.2 diesel engine in a car of this year.(same tow limitand nose weight) Honda petrol engines are noted for their ability rev as all the power and torque are quite high up the rev range. Diesel would make a better tow car but will be more expensive to buy.

Noseweight on the post 2005 diesel is 100 Kg.

Honda CR-V II - 2.0 16v [<2005] with a Bailey     

"Michael Stanley Rice reviewed a Honda CR-V II - 2.0 16v [<2005] (110 Kw/147 bhp). Modelyear: march 2002 - november 2004) and a Bailey Senator Vermont of 1330 kg.

The towing capability for this outfit is:
= 89%* = 104 km/u = 13%

Overall I am disappointed. Modest inclines bring me down the gears and hill starts are a real worry especially if the road surface is wet or loose. The front wheels scarbble for grip and the rear wheel drive always seems late activating. The MPG is very poor and has been as low as 19.8 mpg. On the motorway once rolling, it will maintain a reasonable cruising speed provided you keep an eye on the rev counter to match engine speed to max torque. The nosewight limit is also low at 65kg. Anyone out there suggest an alternative?"

Better with the diesel 100kg noseweight 1500kg towing limit which is ok as the 85% guide is around 1450kg
plenty power torque towing my 1400kg van average 25-30ish mpg(depending if i sit behind lorries or overtake lol)

Good advice - thanks guys, it looks like the oil burner is the best bet, now all I have to do is find one that I can pay for
Best wishes for a good season.   Is it me or are cars down south more pricey than in the north??

I think the price of used cars has rocketed up the last couple of years.
