I tow with a 2 ltr 140 bhp Tit x, my caravan is 1500 kg and all i can say is the van is as steady as a rock, it pulls no problem and will return 34mpg on a long run fully loaded thats both car and van,

Also weights in at 1705kg on a weight bridge

I tow a 1440 kg Lunar Clubman with my 163 bhp Mondeo. It is a great towcar. I rarely use 6th gear whilst towing, but it cruises all day long at 60 in 5th. Very stable and a lot of low down torque when pulling away. Nose weight is 90kg which is a bonus.

As above. I have an older Mondeo and although it tows great in 6th gear. I get better economy by staying in 5th gear.

You need to try it for yourself. My last trip out i managed 39mpg going there and 36mpg coming back. I got stuck on a few tailbacks on the way back.
Good 300 mile + journey each way.

I see reports of Mondeos getting incredible mpg towing. I can get well over 50 mpg solo from my Mk 3 but barely make mid 20s when towing.

Mine is the 2 litre 130ps with 6 speed box. The new ones have slightly reduced towing limits.

Yeah, dont get an auto!

It should be fine but you wont get the great MPG figures that you do with the manual!

I tow with a Mondeo 59 2.2 tdi . Lovely tow car,.
But I do miss my Mondeo 2.0 ghia estate .
I love these cars and they tow very well. The only thing that would be better would be a new one.
But I'm happy with mine.
