We tow with a vectra and find it a great car to tow with.

I'm looking at a Ford kuga, does anyone tow with this car and if you do how is it for towing.

Sorry I'm not going to answer your question but I'm going to ask you one!
What vectra have you got? We have a 2.2 petrol but my OH is concerned it won't be very good for towing

2.2 petrol is a great towcar Julia I can certainly vouch for mine towing our fleetwood 5 berth effortlessly down to the Lake District

Kuga petrol uses the Duratec V6 engine, nevermind a caravan then the power of this will pull a house down.

Might be a big problem though if it falls into the new road tax bands, I think it's the highest!

Julia, we have a 1.9 CDTi SRi (150) and have been all over the country from Scotland down to Cornwall and Devon and have never had a problem, the vectra is a great car to tow with, it's just a pity that they dont make them anymore, if they did I wouldn't be asking this question.

Thanks Chinster and Arc S for your comments.

We have just purchased a 6 month old Ford Kuga 140 Zetec and just had tow bar fitted.
Our first outing is at Easter, looking forward to towing with it.
Due to family illness we have not used caravan for 18 months, last week it took ages to clean it and on Friday new tyres are being fitted.
Following advice from previous messages on here using
E Tyres.

Insignia, though not sure it has much in common with the Vectra?

To reply to the OP - my sister tows a trailer with a Kuga and really rates it. Her only criticism is that she finds the boot a bit small, though Ford have addressed this with the new model I understand.

The petrol Kuga is a straight 5 cylinder turbo charged engine

Ford Kuga 2.5 Titanium

What is it?

This is the Ford Kuga 2.5 Titanium, the first petrol-engined Ford Kuga. It’s powered by a 2.5-litre turbocharged five-cylinder engine that’s basically a detuned version of the motor that propels the Focus ST and RS.

Might be a big problem though if it falls into the new road tax bands, I think it's the highest!

We pay £190 per year, hardly the highest road tax band!  Ours is a 2L TCDi Titanium.  Pulls really well.

I think arc systems was referring to the petrol version being in one of he higher tax bands owing to the emissions. If you have the 2L TDCi it will have lower C02 emissions and therefore a smaller tax bill.

You beat me to it you are right its a 5 cylinder Volvo engine but they are very rare. You only really see 2.0 DSL but if you look at the all new Kuga the engine options are now varied.
