hi, been looking around for a towcar to tow our 2 berth caravan, the caravan club matching service says the car i am looking at is a perfect match for our pastiche 460.
the car is a saab 9-5 tourer its the 150bhp model on an a 57 reg.
Has anyone any experience of owning a saab, reliability etc.
As well is two words!
How does a sage know everything about everything? or does he? or does he just think he does?
Remember, if you buy something you bought it, not brought it.
if you look in your cars v5 it will show the mass in service, do you have a saab 9-5 estate?

The Club advises that a Saab 9-5 1.9TiDVector Sport Anniversary (2007) is o.k. to tow a Coachman Pastiche 460/2 (2007)
1 Kerbweight ratio: 83%
The caravan's laden weight is within 85% of the car's kerb weight, and therefore meets Club guidelines.
The above is based on car and van being same age all the saab models come in at the right weight and all the 460 pastiche caravan are within the guidlines, the older the van the lighter.
My experience with a 06 9-3 vector sport was not so good. Lots of info on the net re engine problems ie: egr valves, swirl flaps, DPF filters and sticking throttle bodies all expensive to fix. Saab were fixing broken springs Foc due to having so many complaints but as Saab went bust there will be no help there now. The 1.9 GM engine is fitted to Vauxhall, Fiat and Alfa Romeo. I actually loved the car but after the repair cost for a new DPF I was sort of glad it was wrote off when I got rear ended. The Airflow model has no DPF and I would say look for that model.
I towed with a late 9-3 Cab and had no issues with it. It's heavier than the other models and makes a pretty good tow car.
Mine had the 150bhp diesel and i never had a single issue with it. The only reason you'll read lots of horror stories on the net is because a) There's lot of those engines in circulation and b) People only post on the internet to complain rather than praise. I bet as a %, the actual number of failures was v small and comparable to every other manufacturer.
