Well i tow with a skoda yeti with a westfalia swan neck detachable tow ball and an alko tow hitch on the caravan, and the clearance between the center of the tow ball to the bumper is dead 76 mm or in old money 3 inches.Hope this is any use for you, i have no idea what it suppose to be and i tow all the time with no problems at all,If anyone tells me its wrong i be back to skoda like grease lightning, as the work was carried out by skoda main dealers

Another Yeti owner, and there is plenty of room with the Westfalia bar for the Alko hitch to work correctly.
See the 3rd picture in my gallery.
Make sure you clean all the black paint off the ball!

Whoever told you this is getting confused with a fixed towball (bolted on by 2 x 16mm. nuts and bolts - not a swan neck) as you need a proper Alko towball for clearance between the towball and rear bumper of the car. With a swan neck you shouldn't have a problem at all as there is adequate clearance like the previous posts have said.
