as you will guess im new to all this and i just wondered if anyone could tell me how i can find out the mgw for my van ive found a plate on the side that says the laden weight (620kg) marauder 4 berth 1990 but i cannot read the mgw on the plate due to corrosion
also can anyone tell me how i calculate what weight i should have on the front end and how i would check to see if i had the weight correct
The 620kg will be the unladen weight, you can add another 150kg & probably more for mgw. With just 'normal' gear in caravan including gas bottles, battery & your gear but not stuff like bikes you should be well under 150kg.
There are various models/sizes of Marauder so you would need to post up exact model to get more specific info.
I was erring on the safe side as it was a guess & if op cannot find a manual, a guess is what it will have to be. Caravans of that age gave actual unladen weight not Miro as now including gas bottle & battery etc, so probably 200kg odd is right but provided op just sticks to loading 'normal' gear he should be ok even if he cannot get confirmation of mgw which is what I was getting at. There were a large number of variants & sizes of Marauder in 80s/90s so he will be lucky to get a manual for exact model of caravan he has.
