Like car jacks to look at but with a straight raised portion for location. Are they OK for all ALKO chasses? And do they require additional brackets to accommodate them?

The Alko jacks should come with chassis brackets that mount just behind the wheel. The Kojack brackets are similar but a lot more beefy. Personally I don't like the Alko jack as it never appears to be stable. I use Kojack brackets and bottle jack and while the quality of the Kojack bottle jack leaves a bit to be desired mine is still working after a lot of use (fitting wheel locks and levelling a TA).

Jacking on the axle will compress suspension & might make wheel impossible to extract from under arch depending on caravan. Its ok to jack on chassis adjacent to axle. I have a car scissor jack & place blocks of wood above & below, this works ok if you are sensible & of course do not reach under chassis while jacked.
I replaced the Al-ko on our Bailey with the Purple line, just unbolted the brackets and swapped them for purple line ones, prefer a beefy hydraulic jack to a scissor type any day. Will swap it back if we sell the van.
Also have a 10 tonne bottle jack in the boot of the car(pretty cheap from Machinemart).

Me too. Now, that`s a side jack. It looks well suited to the job. Are Alko jack brackets easily available? I have a decent caravan stockiest nearby. . .
