Our 2012 Sorento KX2 had its first tow today, fetched the caravan from store for servicing. Took a detour on M54 to give all round test!
It towed very well, stable and plenty of poke. It could hold 50 in 6th on A41, easily held 60(maybe a bit more!) on motorway. I did have to drop into 5th quite often on A road.
Some folk have experienced instability with them alledgedly-but so far well pleased! We don't have SLS(car is ex demo) but I increased tyre pressures at rear as recommended in handbook.
As the weather forecast is not bad we will pop up to High Onn CC site for the weekend!
We went to Dorset for Easter (no van) car did 38mpg overall, mostly motorway at 70ish!!! So not bad for a biggish SUV!

Manual gearbox with a DMF?    50mph in 6th gear will cause excessive wear. It pulls fine but does cause more wear.

Also you maybe using more fuel in 6th than staying in 5th gear.

Your gearing will be different but in my Mondeo 6th gear only works economy wise above 60mph.

In 6th i get 31/32mpg when towing. Last time i stuck to 5th gear and got 36 and 39mpg.

I did a test at 40mph with an ODB reader plugged in.

in 4th gear the trottle usage was 9 or 11%. Change upto 5th gear and although it pulles fine with plenty of power the throttle position was 18% with an increase in the amount of fuel being used.

I repeated this on the same stretch and same results each time. Also did the test in 5th and 6th at 50 - 60 mph.

60mph is borderline for my car for 5th gear.

XVI yes?

As well is two words!

Remember, if you buy something you bought it, not brought it.

The motorway was fine at 60, next trip I am going to keep it in 5th on A roads and monitor mpg. Our previous Sorento was 5 speed so pulled like a train in 5th, sometimes forget 6th!

Blueexpo97 thanks for pointing out we were not towing on our Dorset trip!

The motorway was amazingly quiet on Monday Bank Holiday, most folks must have longer! SWMBO does like to zip along!
