We were intending to sell our Bailey Ranger 550/6 caravan and therefore sold our Volvo XC60 and purchased a Nissan Juke 1.5 DCI following a house move. We are now hoping to keep the van however unsure if the Juke is suitable. Am I right in thinking it is only 8kg too heavy and therefore not too much of an issue or am I looking at the figures incorrectly? Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

Hi

Not sure what the figures are, but if as you say 8kg too heavy you might find yourself on the wrong side of the law and left with no insurance cover if something was to go wrong.

Even if you are ok, I am sure you will find that towing it with the Juke will be a bit more of a task after towing it with an xc60. My thoughts are Juke is on the small side.

iain

Car appears to have 1250kg max tow weight. Caravan has miro 1078kg & mtplm of 1326kg. If those figures are correct for your caravan, then you could get it legal if you loaded it carefully but not really a very good match.

Thanks guys, it doesn't seem ideal however I was just hoping it might be do-able until we got something else sorted. The whole weight thing has me baffled most of the time. I miss our big car ha.

Do you need your full pay load or could you manage with 150KG it your choice to make (Look on Towcar at your weight)

Be very careful not to exceed the cars limit as you may find yourself on the wrong side of the law if stopped and checked , the Juke only has a 1461cc diesel so it may struggle with that size of caravan combined with the weight of the occupants in the car .
