We have just changed our tow car from a 12 plate Mondeo 163 manual to a 62 plate Mondeo 140 Powershift.

As a towcar, the Powershift is a good match, and also the 140 ps Mondeo appears better at lower revs than the 163 ps. One less thing to think about (the gears) is great on the motorway & even more so in town!!!

We have towed to the Isle of Wight & Maidstone from Essex & we have a few more tows for the rest of the season. My only downside would be the mid 20's towing economy, but that is the same as my previous 2 Mondeos & as I still have less than 2000 miles on the clock this may improve.

The car is huge & a stable tow, but that is no different to tha two previous manual ones I had.

I found the 163 frustrating to drive unless you were really going for it. When driving gently I just couldn't get on with it.
I found with a 163 powershift I teat drove it would try and change up too early for the revs to be able to cope.
I am eating a bit of humble pie as when you were looking I recommended that you went for a 140 rather than a 163 after reading some forum reports.
I got a good trade in deal & even though I have now got a Titanium rather than a Titanium X it has the optional parking sensors & it looks better in Ink Blue compared to the Micastone of my previous one.
My new one has the privacy glass & while I don't think it necessarily improves the looks of the car it is better when on holiday with the dog in the car, daughter also prefers it when watching DVDs too & hiding stuff as the parcel shelf usually gets left at home!!!
