Hi All
Just had a pre-season root around in the new-ish van and was very pleased with the smart ally' wheels. I fished out the spare and found it had a steel rim. I know that the bolts for steel are different to the ally ones. Do ordinary car bolts from the scrappy fit or are there some made specifically for caravans?.
I may be wrong but I should think that there must be quite a few people that may have overlooked this.
Have a good season one and all.
Check this with your dealer. The bolts on my alloy wheels are suitable for use on the steel spare.(Swift Challenger).
Also, bear in mind that the torque setting for the steel spare is different to that of the alloys.
I do believe it is the length of the bolts that is critical although some fit both alloys and steel. Another point regarding alloy wheels is remove them once a year as they can weld themselves to the hub if not removed for long periods.
Could anyone tell me whats the Torque Setting for Caravan Wheels??
I am sure I read Somewere that it was 92 NM.
Cheers In Advance
Stu
I can only quote for my own 'van, a Swift Challenger, and the settings are 85ft.lbs,(120Nm) for my alloys and 65ft.lbs.(88Nm) for the steel spare, but to be sure, you should contact your dealer.
