had a nightmare morning today trying to price up a towbar and twin electrics for the mondeo estate i have just bought ,phoned round a list of 20 fitters ,fixed premises and mobile . quotes from most varied between £230 to £290 with a few of them now non existant numbers .
   finally got hold of one about 20 miles away that really went into depth about the car and my actual requirements ,was indeed really helpful and knowledgeable AND came back with a fixed quote (recorded in his book ) of £179 inc vat .

he's getting my business as soon as we are ready for it ,proves it pays to shop around ,also one of the last people phoned

hi black fox
i bought a tobar my self from ebay and fitted it on my own {towbar}prity easy then i called a guy from united towbars and explained that i fitted the towbar but needed the electrics doing.charged me £20 may be a good idea to fit the towbar yourself to cut the cost down. united towbars can be found on google

Had mine supplied and fitted for £150.

just happened to pop into them whilst passing to get a price and they said the lads were sitting drinking tea.

Couple of years ago now. And done during the winter not when the rush starts.

Catching them at a quiet time is the key i think.

Sit there and earn nothing or make something.

Thanks for the thought dave ,but at getting on for 70 my days of working on or underneath a car are well in the past ,I normally look for a car with a tow ar already but this car was to good to miss

Seems a very good price, if fitted as  a factory  option to a new Mondeo it is £600

Yeah but some people assume they are getting a better product. If its a dealer fitted option they may have outsourced it anyway.

If its factory fitted its still a towbar from one of the major suppliers. Brink, Westfalia usually for Mondeo's.
