hello we  are looking to buy a caravan but before i go to the expense of having a towbar fitted does anyone have any views on the mazda 6 as a towcar? ours is a 2.3 sport manual transmission i love the car but not sure if they are good at towing!

hopefully all you expert caravanners out there can help!

thanks for the tip i have had a look at the threads but nothing specific about the 2.3 mazda6 was wondering if the car was to "sporty" to be a good towcar?

Where do you get most torque? If at the top of the rev range then you will not have a good experience. Diesels are good tow cars as the torque comes at the bottom of the rev range.

My friend tows with a 2.0l petrol Mazda 6. It tows really well.

I think his caravan is about 1500kg fixed bedroom lunar.

thanks simon and derby dave-we are still looking for our first caravan only want a small two berth so hopefully the mazda will tow that ok

i used to have 1.8 Mazda 6 and a Bailey Ranger 460/2 . When i got mine it was a x company car high on the mileage but what a car it was awesome at towing ....
