A friend and member on here is touring with their mobility Skoda Yeti. Its only done 17000s miles and the clutch has burned out.
Now the garage is saying mobility will not pay for it as its not fair wear and tear (this is on going just now)The price for fitting is just short of £800s.
The car is a 2010 2ltr diesel and going by reports in the caravan club site a few members have reported this problem saying that due to inspection the clutch had jammed causing slipping.
The garage they took it to is a Skoda dealer and they say its not covered with the warranty yet Skoda seem to know of this problem going by what ive read from the caravan club forum.
Surely if you have hired a car from mobility they would get it fixed under their agreement?
Clutches are often only replaced, under warranty, after they have been stripped down and examined. When I was in the motor trade, we found that most clutches failed due to driving style, as opposed to faulty parts.

Fair comment Philip; probably the problems I read about may have been a result of bad clutch control during maneuvering.

Mine has done 20000 miles, with about 5000 towing and no issues. Haven't read anything about issues on Briskoda.

Me neither Iain, I'm Michael_G over there. Just thought there may be someone over there knowing more about Mobility.
Me neither, (Llanigraham) and mines done 66k with probably 10% of that towing.
I suspect the OP has been riding the clutch whilst reversing their van, so would have affected any car.
My car is due for it first service in July it a year old at present i have 4500 on the clock but we are going away with the van in June & July so hoping for a bit more...
On modern cars the clutch can be a bit "marginal"
The manufacturers are demanding the clutch transmits more and more power, yet the effort required by the left leg has to be as low as possible. Resting your foot on the pedal can push it over the edge
