Hi

Due to the fact that my car has been written off due to an accident (not my fault) I find that i am now having to look for a replacement.

Whilst I have always camped and towed a trailer, I am now tempted to go to the next step and get a caravan, but......................... what car???

I keep coming back to Landrover Freelanders but in your valued opinions what else is good??

I have around 5k to play with and this vehicle would be my only one, so MPG is important too.

Oh and I haven't got a scooby idea about what van, but that is in the future and I'd choose one to fit the car.

Any clues???

If you do decide on buying a caravan then you have to consider first what berth you need as some of the 4 berth caravans can be somewhat heavier so it can mean a difference in what towcar you require. Depending on the weight of the caravan doesn't mean that you actually need a 4x4 but if that's the route you prefer to go then there are also car estate versions to consider as an alternative such as the Skoda Octavia 4x4 which would give you a better fuel return than say a Land Rover Freelander.

I'm glad that someone answered this post with details of the Octavia 4x4 especially having all the specific vehicle data at hand as well. It doesn't get any better than this so well done Octavia 4x4 for your contribution to my comment.

Will be checking out other options like the Octavia. as far as the caravan goes it would be smallish as there is only me

Just wanted suggestions on decent tow cars in my price range, I guess.

Hi Denise, if I might, can I add the C5 138Bhp. to your list. But more important is a full service history on any car.
